Energy UK responds to Gas System in Transition consultation

In response to the Government's interim response to the Gas System in Transition: Security of Supply Consultation, Energy UK Deputy Director, Policy (Investment) Kisha Couchman said:

"Gas plays a crucial role in the UK energy system now and will continue to do so for decades to come. We're pleased to see the Government's recognition that the gas system will continue to be an important part of the UK's infrastructure, even as gas demand declines overall. While the market should continue to determine how gas is used and how we transition towards biomethane and hydrogen, there is a role for the Government to preserve strategically important infrastructure that will ensure the system retains the capability and flexibility needed to maintain security of supply."
