Rep. Michelle Au Appointed to the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Youth Exposure to Kratom and Retail-Available Substances

ATLANTA - State Representative Michelle Au (D-Johns Creek) was recently appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as a member of the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Youth Exposure to Kratom and Retail-Available Substances.

"I am honored to serve on the Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Youth Exposure to Kratom and Retail-Available Substances," said Rep. Au. "This market of loosely regulated supplements-some with significant safety concerns-deserves closer attention. I am excited for the opportunity to learn more about the issue and to craft sound policy centering around consumer health and safety."

The House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Youth Exposure to Kratom and Retail-Available Substances will evaluate the impact of these products on minors to strengthen protections, reduce access and create healthier outcomes for Georgia's youth.

Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Rick Townsend (R-Brunswick), Jordan Ridley (R-Woodstock), Steven Meeks (R-Screven), Tyler Paul Smith (R-Bremen), Danny Mathis (R-Cochran) and Dar'shun Kendrick (D-Lithonia).
