The Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) has arrested Daniel L. Wright III, 32, in connection to a series of residential burglaries targeting student housing. Wright faces multiple charges, including burglary of a dwelling, armed burglary and grand theft of a firearm.
The investigation began after TPD patrol officers responded to multiple burglary calls at rented student houses, including properties located on the 1600 block of Airport Drive, the 200 block of North Lipona Road and the 600 block of Kyle Street.
These cases were assigned to TPD's Burglary Crimes Unit (BCU). Members of the Crime Analyst Unit (CAU) recognized patterns in the burglaries. All the crimes occurred in the evenings and during school breaks. After gathering evidence and conducting a thorough follow-up investigation, BCU detectives found probable cause for Wright's arrest.
The following burglaries were identified during the investigation:
Wright has been charged with three counts of Burglary of a Dwelling, Armed Burglary of a Dwelling, three counts of Felony Theft and Grand Theft of a Firearm. He is currently in custody and will face further legal proceedings.
