Mayor Lauren McLean delivered her 2025 State of the City address Thursday, May 15, at the Boise Centre, emphasizing the progress the City of Boise has made on affordable housing, public safety, and quality-of-life investments.
Framing her remarks around Boise's "North Star" - caring for people - McLean shared some highlight moments in her time as mayor that demonstrate a local government working alongside residents, creating a city for everyone.
"When we put people first, we create and sustain a city for everyone," McLean said in her speech.
She celebrated recent milestones, including the city's successful work towards addressing housing and homelessness, job creation, below national average unemployment rates, and expanded access to parks and open spaces. She also shared what residents can expect to see in the upcoming year, including new artwork and amenities at the Boise Airport, and insight on the city's upcoming approach to the budget proposal for FY 2026.
"Though we have to tighten our belts and look for ways to stretch a dollar this year, I'm proud of the investments we made in previous years, which are now coming to life," she said. "We are making smart investments, supporting our business community, and preparing for the future... I want Boise to stay a place where families thrive."
