Temporary Road Closure
State Route 140 In Mariposa County

Mariposa County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will be temporarily closing State Route 140 from Yosemite Bug in Midpines to the Yosemite Cedar Lodge in Incline as of 7:00 p.m., on Monday, April 20, 2026.

Due to slope conditions and heavy rain with low temperatures forecasted this week, the California Highway Patrol and Caltrans have made the decision to temporarily close the highway for the safety of the traveling public. After the storm cycle our Caltrans Midpines maintenance crew will re-evaluate the roadway to deem it safe for reopening to motorists.

For the latest road condition information, tune your radio to the Caltrans Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) at 530 AM, 1610 AM or 1670 AM, or call the Caltrans Road Condition Hotline at 1-800-427-ROAD (7623). Changeable Message Signs (CMS) will display information regarding the pass closures for motorists.

Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. All work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.

For the safety of workers and other motorists, please Be Work Zone Alert. Caltrans also reminds motorists to #KnowBeforeYouGo by checking QuickMaps on your mobile device or visit quickmap.dot.ca.gov for real-time highway conditions.
