Capito: The One Big Beautiful Bill Supports Law Enforcement

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The One Big Beautiful Bill invests in law enforcement and the brave men and women who keep our communities safe.

"The brave men and women who put themselves in harm's way in West Virginia and across the country deserve to have the resources they need to keep themselves and our communities safe. I am proud that the One Big Beautiful Bill invests in additional training and hiring efforts, equipment, resources to improve our prisons, and the U.S. Secret Service," Senator Capito said.

West Virginia Wins:

  • Supports law enforcement officers by providing $30 billion for training and equipment.
  • Provides funding for hiring additional Immigration Enforcement personnel.
  • Provides much-needed funding for the Bureau of Prisons to address staffing shortages and improve facilities.
  • Expands U.S. Secret Service (USSS) recruitment and training efforts by providing essential resources.
  • Provides additional funding for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (Byrne JAG) and Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) to support local law enforcement initiatives.

What Others Are Saying:

"Public safety is job number one for every Mayor, but no city can do it alone. That's why the One Big Beautiful Bill's investment in training, equipment, and local policing is so important for Huntington. Senator Capito knows no city can do it alone, and she's been the federal partner we need every step of the way to support our officers who keep Huntington safe," Huntington Mayor Patrick Farrell said.

"West Virginia has seen the direct impact of federal funding for important training programs to develop our next police leaders. This continued support of law enforcement will make a positive impact on capabilities for our sheriffs, deputies, police, troopers and others to keep our communities safe," Rodney Miller, Executive Director of the WV Sheriff's Association, said.

"The continued financial support included in the One Big Beautiful Bill for the Byrne JAG and COPS grants will allow opportunities for our local law enforcement agencies in West Virginia to continue protecting our communities," Greenbrier County Commissioner Tammy Tincher said.
