On March 5th, the Myanmar government grandly hosted a celebration marking the 10th anniversary of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC). Member of Myanmar's State Security and Peace Commission and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe and Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia addressed the event. Minister Counselor Zheng Zhihong from the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, Acting Consul-General Zhang Wei of the Chinese Consulate-General in Mandalay, and more than 20 union ministers and deputy ministers of the Myanmar government attended the event. Additionally, diplomatic envoys and representatives of Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand to Myanmar were present.
Ma Jia stated that over the past decade, the six Lancang-Mekong countries have steadily advanced the building of a community with a shared future, making significant contributions to promoting regional development and shared prosperity. In the face of a volatile and turbulent international situation, the six countries shall cherish regional peace and pursue the people's well-being, and work together to build an "LMC 2.0", jointly creating a better future.
U Than Swe expressed that under the leadership of the six countries' leaders, the LMC has yielded fruitful results across various fields and has grown into the most successful Mekong River Mechanism. He sincerely extended thanks to China for its support, looking forward to more brilliant achievements in the LMC in the future.
