WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement applauding the U.S. House of Representatives' passage of bipartisan legislation she helped introduce to provide crucial funding for schools, roads, law enforcement, and other municipal services in rural communities across Nevada. This bill, the bipartisan Secure Rural Schools Reauthorization Act, previously passed the Senate with Senator Rosen's support and is now heading to the President's desk.
"The Secure Rural Schools Program helps provide Nevada's rural counties with critical funding for essential services like schools, roads, and law enforcement," said Senator Rosen. "I helped pass this bipartisan bill to make sure every community in Nevada continues to have access to the resources they need, and I'm glad to see it's on its way to the President's desk to be signed into law. I'll always keep working across party lines to deliver federal funding for our state."
Senator Rosen has been a leader in the effort to reauthorize this program and ensure Nevada's rural communities receive the funding they need. Earlier this year, she helped introduce this bill, and joined colleagues from both parties in urging Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries to prioritize its swift passage in the House following Senate passage. She also helped secure nearly $34 million in federal funding this year to support essential services in Nevada's rural communities.
