Senator Kelly has led this resolution every year since 2022
Today, Senators Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Rick Scott (R-FL), members of the Senate Special Committee on Aging, led their colleagues in a bipartisan resolution designating May 2026 as Older Americans Month. This resolution emphasizes the importance and leadership of older adults, recognizing their value in strengthening communities across the United States.
"Older Americans deserve dignity, high quality healthcare, and financial security. This Older Americans Month, we honor their contributions and will fight to protect the benefits they've earned," said Kelly.
"Our older Americans are the heart of our families and communities, offering wisdom, experience, and service that betters our country. I am proud to lead this bipartisan resolution once again alongside Senator Kelly, honoring the contributions of our aging community who paved the way for future generations. From reauthorizing the Older Americans Act to ensuring access to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, this Committee and I are dedicated to protecting the financial security and well-being of older Americans from coast to coast," said Scott.
"Our seniors have spent a lifetime working hard, and they deserve to retire with dignity. As the top Democrat on the Senate Aging Committee, I am proud to lead the bipartisan effort to designate May as Older Americans Month in recognition of the valuable contributions of our nation's seniors. I will continue working to make sure that older Americans have access to the programs they need to age with health and financial security," said Gillibrand.
The resolution is also cosponsored by Senate Aging Committee members Jim Justice (R-WV), Andy Kim (D-NJ), Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), and Susan Collins (R-ME).
