May 21, 2026

(CHICAGO, IL - May 21, 2026) The City of Chicago Office of Inspector General (OIG) welcomes David Glockner, who begins a four-year term as the newly confirmed fifth Inspector General for the City of Chicago on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

Glockner's past roles include, most recently, serving as executive vice president for compliance, audit, and risk at Exelon, chief compliance officer for Citadel, and regional director of the Chicago office of the Securities and Exchange Commission. Glockner also served over 24 years in the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Illinois, including nearly 12 years as chief of the office's criminal division. Glockner holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Chicago and a JD from Stanford University Law School.

The Inspector General is responsible for leading OIG's independent and non-partisan work to promote economy, effectiveness, efficiency, and integrity across City government.

"I am grateful for the trust placed in me by Mayor Johnson and the City Council and excited about the opportunity to lead OIG. OIG plays a critical role in protecting Chicago's residents against misconduct and waste, and I am committed to ensuring that we do so diligently, independently, and fairly," said Glockner.

Mayor Johnson selected Glockner on April 27, 2026, following a non-partisan search process specified in Section 2-56-020 of Chicago's Municipal Code. The process included a nationwide search led by an external recruiting firm and review of candidates by a selection committee comprised of members selected by the Mayor and the chair of the City Council's Committee on Ethics and Government Oversight. The selection committee then made its recommendations for the Mayor's consideration. The City Council approved Glockner's appointment on May 20, 2026.
