Ongoing Proactive Efforts Net Four Arrests and Multiple Firearms Seized

The Tallahassee Police Department has made four arrests and recovered multiple firearms in less than a week as part of proactive enforcement efforts in the 1500 block of West Tharpe Street, an area that has experienced recent shootings and ongoing public safety concerns.

In one incident, members of TPD's Violent Crime Response Team observed four individuals acting suspiciously as they entered a vehicle carrying backpacks. After observing a traffic violation, detectives conducted a traffic stop.

During the investigation, one passenger was found carrying an AR-style pistol. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered additional firearms, including a short-barreled rifle and multiple handguns. One handgun was equipped with a conversion device, commonly referred to as a "switch," that converts the firearm into a fully automatic machine gun. Another handgun had been reported stolen.

The investigation resulted in two arrests and multiple firearm-related charges.

In a separate enforcement action in the same area, detectives made two more arrests on drug charges and recovered an additional firearm.

Combined, the two investigations resulted in four arrests and the seizure of five firearms, emphasizing TPD's continued commitment to removing illegal firearms from the community and focusing enforcement efforts in areas impacted by violent crime.

"This case is a clear example of the focused, proactive work our officers and detectives are doing to reduce gun violence in Tallahassee," said Chief Lawrence Revell. "Every illegal firearm we remove from the streets represents a potential act of violence prevented and a step toward making our neighborhoods safer. We will continue to focus our efforts in areas impacted by violence and hold accountable those who unlawfully possess firearms."

• Jabbarious Dudley, 18, for possession of a short-barreled rifle
• Destin Parks, 17, for possession of a machine gun, possession of a firearm by a minor, and grand theft of a firearm
• Zion Williams, 19, for possession of marijuana with intent to sell
• Travon Curry, 17, for sale of marijuana and possession of a concealed firearm
