This training aims to support managers of UNESCO-designated sites dealing with geoheritage, UNESCO Global Geopark managers and staff, as well as coordinators of aspiring UNESCO Global Geoparks, in developing a solid geoconservation strategy within their territories. This capacity-building action includes topics such as the inventory, assessment, protection, conservation and promotion of geological sites, with a special focus on UNESCO Global Geopark territories.
The training will focus on the importance for a geopark to manage its geoheritage considering its different types of uses (scientific, educational, touristic), the different types of values (scientific, educational, ecological, cultural, aesthetic, etc.) and the other assets within the territory (biological, archaeological, cultural, social, etc.).
