Virginia Governor Announces $1.2 Million Investment in Nuclear Innovation
On May 19, 2025, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin announced $1.2 million in grants to the Virginia Innovation Nuclear Hub (VIN Hub) to support research infrastructure and workforce training for advanced nuclear technology. The Initiative is funded through the Virginia Department of Energy's Power Innovation Program and will support a Research and Education Reactor Facility and a Center for Nuclear Materials and Reliability. A consortium of Virginia universities will implement projects through the VIN Hub. Project assessment and planning will begin in May 2025.
