Last week, VHB's Donny Goris-Kolb, Senior Sustainability Planner, moderated a webinar with the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) hosted by the Environmental Business Council of New England (EBC) as part of its Climate Resiliency in Massachusetts: Turning Insights into Action series.
The session featured Jill Valdés Horwood, Massport's Chief Climate and Resilience Officer, who shared insights on the organization's newly established Office of Climate Innovation & Resilience and the progress being made to advance Massport's Net Zero Roadmap. The discussion focused on how Massport is integrating climate adaptation and resilience strategies across its aviation, maritime, and transportation facilities while preparing for evolving climate risks facing the Commonwealth.
As moderator, Donny guided the conversation and facilitated a question-and-answer session with attendees, helping connect Massport's work to broader statewide efforts underway through the Commonwealth's ResilientMass Plan. The webinar also highlighted the importance of collaboration among public agencies, consultants, planners, and infrastructure leaders to advance resilience planning and implementation.
The webinar was the third installment in EBC's ongoing series examining how Massachusetts agencies are translating climate goals into action. The series brings together leaders from organizations including the MBTA, Massport, the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources, MEMA, Massachusetts Fish & Game, and MWRA to share lessons learned, priorities, and future initiatives.
Congratulations to Donny for representing VHB in this important industry discussion and helping advance dialogue around climate resilience and infrastructure readiness throughout the region.
