Closure of Park Avenue near Providence Road, Feb. 19-27
(COLUMBIA, MO)- Beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, Emery Sapp & Sons, contractor for the Columbia Housing Authority, will close Park Avenue between North Providence Road and North Fifth Street.
The closure will allow crews to complete water line connections and replace concrete as part of the East Park Avenue Apartments project. Previous phases of this project had required road closures in the Park Avenue area throughout the fall.
Detour signs will direct drivers to use East Ash Street. Southbound traffic on North Providence Road will not be permitted to turn left onto Park Avenue and should instead continue to East Ash Street.
At least one of the two sidewalks adjacent to the work zone will remain open during the project. If a sidewalk along Park Avenue must close, signs will direct pedestrians to designated crossing points.
Work is expected to be completed and Park Avenue reopened by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, weather permitting.
