Weekend update

Halifax Regional Police responded to 778 calls for service over the weekend. Some notable incidents are as follows:

Police arrest prolific offender

On March 14 at approximately 3:30 a.m., police observed a vehicle driving erratically and at a high rate of speed through the Armdale Roundabout in Halifax. Upon conducting a traffic stop on Herring Cove Road, the driver was identified as a revoked driver and the subject of an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on a previous matter. Nathaniel David Kjarbo, 46, was arrested without incident. He appeared in Dartmouth provincial court today.

A male passenger was also identified as the suspect in numerous theft related investigations and was arrested without incident. William Morgan, 43, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face 75 charges related to 16 police investigations. The charges include robbery, theft, possession under $5000.00 and breach of release conditions.

Police charge man with firearms offences

On March 14 at approximately 8:40 p.m., officers were responding to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 107 near Exit 12, when they observed a vehicle approaching the scene at a high rate of speed.

Officers conducted a traffic stop and determined the driver was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Officers searched the vehicle and located a rifle and ammunition that were not properly secured. The firearm and ammunition were seized.

The driver, a 53-year-old man, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face charges of unsafe storage of a firearm and careless use of a firearm or weapon.
