BEGA Publishes FY2026 Q1 Complaint Summary Report

BEGA Releases Quarterly Complaint Summary Report for FY2026 Quarter 1

The District of Columbia Board of Ethics and Government Accountability ("BEGA") released its Quarterly Complaint Summary Report for the first quarter of FY 2026, covering the period from October 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025.

During FY2026 Q1, the Office of Government Ethics ("OGE"), an office within BEGA that investigates alleged violations of the District's Code of Conduct by employees and public officials, closed 60 matters. Almost half of the matters (48.33% or 29 out of 60 matters) involved allegations that were outside of BEGA's jurisdiction.

For the 31 closed matters within BEGA's jurisdiction, allegations involving rules governing outside employment or activities accounted for 11 matters (35.48%), while allegations involving misuse of government property/resources/vehicles accounted for five matters (16.13%). There were three matters each (9.68%) stemming from allegations involving violations of the conflict of interest rules and use of public office for private gain and two matters (6.45%) each involved alleged violations of the nepotism rules and failure to adhere to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations. There was one matter (3.23%) in each of the remaining categories.
