Potential government shutdown

Dear UAA Faculty and Staff,

Following President Pitney's message last week regarding the potential federal government shutdown, I want to share how UAA is preparing and responding at the campus level.

In the immediate term, operations will continue as usual. We don't anticipate any immediate changes, and employees should proceed with their work as normal. UA Leadership is closely monitoring developments in D.C., and continuously evaluating any potential impacts on our institution.

If the shutdown occurs and extends through the end of next week, we'll share additional information on potential impacts to UAA's operations. At this time, no significant changes to our operations are anticipated. This includes sponsored project activities. Please continue project and program work in accordance with current award terms and conditions.

If you have questions or concerns about how you may be impacted, please reach out to your supervisor for guidance. Supervisors can contact their HR coordinator if they require further assistance.

While a government shutdown is a significant national event, it is expected to have minimal short-term impact on students, staff and faculty at UAA. Despite the uncertainty, our universities are well-prepared to continue offering quality education and support services.

Thank you for all you do for our university and state.

Cheryl Siemers
UAA Interim Chancellor
