Under the Trump Administration's America First Foreign Assistance framework, the United States continues to strengthen U.S. food systems and secure our nation's economic and agricultural dominance. A robust and resilient agriculture sector is essential to domestic prosperity, global market stability, and American competitiveness.

Today, the U.S. government announced $40 million to support the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT)-a globally regarded agricultural research institution-driving innovations that directly benefit U.S. producers. At CIMMYT, scientists are developing drought and heat tolerant wheat and corn, strengthening early warning systems for crop disease, and building innovation hubs that help farmers produce more with fewer resources.

This investment reflects the administration's commitment to ensuring that U.S. taxpayer resources deliver measurable results for the American people and the broader food and agricultural economy. By advancing cutting-edge crop science in partnership with a proven international research leader, the United States is strengthening domestic supply chain resilience, reducing exposure to global shocks, and affirming U.S. leadership in agricultural innovation.
