Together We Celebrate Another Raleigh Water Year

Did you turn on your sink this morning to brush your teeth or take a quick sip of water at the fountain at work? Over the past year, Raleigh Water crews have been working hard to keep the water flowing. Our scientists are like MVPs of water quality, working behind the scenes to make sure every drop is safe and top-notch. And just like we track stats for our favorite sports teams, we keep a close eye on the numbers-and this year, the results are truly a win for our whole community!

Here's the Raleigh Water version of our "Spotify Wrapped" and what we can look back on for the 2025 calendar year:

  • 8 reportable sanitary sewer overflow incidents
  • Accepted 74 miles of new mains in our Merger Towns (36 miles of water and 38 miles of sewer)
  • Projected to accept 81 miles by the end of the year
  • 224 main breaks were recorded as of the beginning of December
  • 264 water service leak repairs
  • Started an Instagram account - @Raleigh_Water
  • Raleigh Water cuts the ribbons on a new state-of-the-art drinking water lab
  • The laboratory has performed 434 lead and copper (Pb/Cu) analyses this year for customers.
  • The distribution system includes 270 sampling stations for regulatory compliance monitoring.
  • On average, the laboratory performs 41,935 analytical tests per year.
  • Raleigh becomes the first in North Carolina to power buses with renewable natural gas from wastewater - read more about our Bioenergy Recovery Project

A big thank you to our dedicated teams who sacrificed time with their families and holidays to ensure every resident receives safe, clean water.

We're proud of the work we've done this year and excited about what's ahead. As we look toward the future, we remain committed to maintaining excellence and continuing to improve the quality and reliability of our services for the city.
