NEGROS OCCIDENTAL HONORS NUTRITION FRONTLINERS

Governor Bong Lacson led the Provincial Nutrition Awarding Ceremony, which recognized outstanding local government units (LGUs) and partners for their exemplary efforts in promoting good nutrition, reducing malnutrition, and improving the health and well-being of communities.

The ceremony, held at Nature's Village Resort in Talisay City on October 29, gathered Barangay Nutrition Scholars, Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinators, Municipal Nutrition Action Officers, and other stakeholder awardees from all towns and cities of the province.

The awards are anchored on the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro), which highlights the service and dedication of nutrition frontliners.

MELLPI Pro provides a systematic way of assessing how local nutrition programs are being implemented and how policies, service delivery, and capacity-building efforts translate into real improvements in community health and nutrition outcomes.

Gov. Lacson expressed gratitude to the province's nutrition frontliners for their compassion, dedication, and persistence in implementing nutrition programs at the grassroots level.

He acknowledged their vital role in ensuring that every Negrense, especially children and other vulnerable sectors, has access to proper nutrition and essential health services, despite the challenges faced in the field.

The activity was spearheaded by the Provincial Health Office headed by Dr. Girlie Pinongan.*
