Join the Town of Normal and Illinois State University on Monday, April 13, 2026, for the final community engagement event of the Pedestrian & Roadway Campus Safety Initiative. The project team will share findings from the quick-build safety projects installed around campus, traffic calming studies, and safety location recommendations developed through two phases of community input.
The project team will have stations set up where you can explore findings from the quick-build safety projects installed around campus, check out traffic calming tools, and see the safety recommendations shaped by community input from more than 1,500 survey responses. This is your chance to see how your feedback is shaping safer streets around Illinois State, and to learn what comes next as the Town and University move toward permanent improvements. Drop in to the Circus Room, Bone Student Center anytime between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. on April 13 to see what the Pedestrian & Roadway Campus Safety Initiative has been working on.
Free snacks and refreshments will be provided!
Whether you're a student walking to class, a faculty or staff member commuting to campus, or a neighbor navigating the area, this project is about making things safer for everyone. Stop by and see what's ahead. Free parking is available in the Bone Student Center parking lot, located at West Locust Street and Normal Avenue.
No RSVP required. For more information, visit normalil.gov/CampusSafety.
