Weekend Lane Closures on I-20 in Douglas Co. as Resurfacing Continues
METRO ATLANTA - Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors will install lane closures on Interstate 20 (I-20) in Douglas County this weekend to continue a resurfacing project on I-20 from east of Liberty Road to east of State Route 5/Bill Arp Road (SR 5). Resurfacing improves the condition of the roadway materials and provides a smoother ride for drivers.
Weather and on-site conditions permitting, alternating single left or right lanes will be closed on I-20 eastbound and westbound throughout the project limits beginning 9 p.m. on Friday, September 12 until 5 a.m. on Monday.

These closures will help ensure the safety of drivers and workers as crews begin milling, inlay and resurfacing operations on the roadway. This $29 million project is scheduled for completion in late fall 2025.
As always, motorists traveling in the area are reminded to reduce their speeds in the work zone. Motorists are also encouraged to wear seatbelts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel, and plan their routes before getting on the road by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or downloading the Georgia 511 app for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.
