Apply Now to Join the Fourth Cohort of the Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP) Program

PALMDALE, CA - For those ready to grow themselves and inspire others in Palmdale and across the Antelope Valley, applications are open for the fourth cohort of the Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology (CAPP) program. Classes begin Tuesday, May 20, and conclude in December. Applications will close on Wednesday, April 30. Selections will be made on a rolling basis, so early submission is encouraged. The CAPP program is an eight-month personal and professional development journey that explores the science of well-being. Participants will learn how to apply positive psychology principles to create healthier workplaces, flourishing schools and thriving community groups. The curriculum is grounded in Professor Martin Seligman's PERMAH theory of well-being and offers a systems-oriented approach to fostering resilience and positive transformation.

"By empowering residents with the tools and knowledge to foster positivity and resilience, we are cultivating a future of collaboration and prosperity here in Palmdale."

With nearly 100 graduates since its inception, CAPP participants have spearheaded impactful projects using the knowledge they gained through the program.

"The CAPP initiative is vital in fostering positive change across Palmdale and the Antelope Valley," said Mayor Richard J. Loa. "By equipping leaders with evidence-based strategies, we are building a brighter, healthier future for our community."

The program welcomes individuals from all walks of life who live, work or study in the Antelope Valley. This includes:

• Business leaders driving people and culture initiatives
• School officials and teachers shaping the future of education
• Health practitioners supporting mental, physical and emotional well-being
• Community members passionate about creating a thriving region and social infrastructure
• Youth leaders age 18 and over

While individual participation is encouraged, organizations are invited to enroll multiple members to maximize impact.

"The program's benefits extend far beyond the classroom," said Mayor Pro Tem Laura Bettencourt. "Investing in personal and community well-being strengthens our City from the inside out, empowering our community to lead with purpose and positivity. I encourage everyone eligible to apply."

Participation in this initiative requires:

• Live Learning : Attend onsite sessions (one full day on Tuesdays and one half-day on Wednesdays each month)
• Virtual Classes : Join weekly sessions on Monday evenings to dive deeper
• Self-Study and Pay-It-Forward Challenges : Apply learning and spark change in real-time
• Impact Project : Design and implement a project that makes a tangible difference in the workplace or community
