Blumenthal Statement on $5.7 Million for Submarine Base New London Infrastructure Improvements

[Hartford, CT] - Today U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) released a statement on the U.S. Department of Defense's announcement that they have awarded the Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments a $5.7 million federal grant to improve water supply infrastructure at Submarine Base New London.

"This $5.7 million grant is a huge win for Submarine Base New London. This significant grant will upgrade water infrastructure ensuring smooth day-to-day operations critical to our national defense. I am thrilled the Department of Defense has awarded this grant to the Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments, recognizing the vital importance of the base and I will keep fighting for infrastructure investments across Connecticut," Blumenthal said.

The $5.7 million grant will allow the Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments to replace 11,700 linear feet of water mains to upgrade the base's water supply infrastructure.
