We have upgraded level of preparedness in response to threat of terrorism

The Defence Council met, we have upgraded the level of preparedness in response to the threat of acts of terrorism, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in a video he posted on Facebook on Saturday evening.

"On Saturday afternoon, I convened a meeting of the Defence Council because events in Iran have an impact, an indirect impact on Hungary's security situation. With special regard to our energy security. Hungarian soldiers are serving in the Middle East region. They have not been affected by the military strikes, they're fine," the Prime Minister said.

We must expect a rise in the probability of acts of terrorism in the whole of Europe as we have seen also most recently, he pointed out. In particular, in countries where there are migrants in significant numbers. Hungary is in a much better situation, but we must nonetheless upgrade the level of preparedness in response to the threat of possible acts of terrorism, he added.

Due to the conflict, experts are predicting a significant increase in the price of energy on the world market, he pointed out. In this situation it is key to break the oil blockade President Zelenskyy introduced against Hungary, he stated. Therefore, we will keep in effect the counter-measures introduced against Ukraine in the coming weeks as well, Mr Orbán said.
