5th RISE Industry Insights research paper focuses on Bookshops, Censorship and Freedom of Expression
On 15 September, International Day of Democracy, the European and International Booksellers Federation (EIBF) published their 5th RISE Industry research paper, with this edition focused on Bookshops, censorship and Freedom of Expression.
This paper addresses censorship through the lens of political, ideological and religious polarisation, and how these have led to an increase in cases of vandalism and attacks towards bookshops and booksellers. This issue maps out the current situation in 8 different countries across Europe, America and Australia and discusses how tools and resources can help booksellers around the world stand up against censorship.
