Finance Committee Releases Chairman's Mark of the Taxpayer Assistance and Service Act Ahead of Markup

Washington, D.C.-Senate Finance Committee Chairman Mike Crapo (R-Idaho) and Ranking Member Ron Wyden (D-Oregon) today released the Chairman's Mark of the Taxpayer Assistance and Service Act, a bipartisan bill which would modernize and streamline IRS operations, strengthen taxpayer rights and deliver a more taxpayer-first system.

The Committee will hold a markup on Thursday, July 30, at 10:00 AM in 215 Dirksen Senate Office Building.

"Taxpayers deserve a tax system that is easy to navigate, delivers timely refunds and responds effectively when issues arise," said Crapo. "This week's markup demonstrates the Committee's bipartisan commitment to improving tax administration and ensuring the tax system works better for the American people."

"Americans deserve a fair and efficient federal tax system that protects them from bad actors," Wyden said. "This week the Finance Committee has an opportunity to meaningfully improve the tax filing process for Americans of all stripes on a bipartisan basis, and continue efforts to modernize the IRS to better serve taxpayers."
