Subject to AS 38.05.555, this office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Department of Transportation and Public Facilities

PROJECT NAME: ADL 422791

DESIGNATED MATERIAL SITE: ADL 419294

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Located at milepost 57 of the Taylor Highway, approximately 10 miles southwest of Chicken, Alaska. This site is located at approximately 63.9907N, 142.1314

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: MS 785-055-2 located at MP 57 Taylor Highway, within Sections 31 & 32, Township 26 North, Range 17 East, Copper River Meridian, containing approximately 133.17 acres, more or less.

QUANTITY REQUESTED: The applicant has requested 200,000 cubic yards of riprap and gravel.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities has requested extraction of 200,000 cubic yards of riprap and gravel. Blasting will be utilized during extraction

REQUESTED TERM: The applicant has requested the maximum contract term of 5 years, from 2026 to 2031.

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: March 18, 2026

DMLW is seeking information related to the extraction of material from this site that may assist in the development of specific operating/reclamation requirements for the site, or identifying any multiple land use issues that may need to be addressed prior to issuance of this or future contracts.

To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99709 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
