On 29 June, CINEA launched the 6th call for projects aiming to obtain the Cross-Border Renewable Energy (CB RES) status, the last status call under the current 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).
Obtaining the CB RES status is mandatory for projects wishing to access EU funding for studies and works under the CB RES window of the CEF Energy Programme. Beyond making projects eligible for financial support, CB RES status also increases their visibility at EU level, strengthens support from Member States, and enhances investor confidence.
Promoters of eligible cross-border renewable energy projects can submit their applications via the dedicated CB RES submission platform until 6 October 2026.
Projects awarded the status through this call may have the opportunity to apply for the final CEF Energy CB RES funding call for studies and works, expected to be launched in 2027.
To guide project promoters through the application process, CINEA organised a virtual info day presenting the policy context, the application and evaluation process, and practical tips for preparing a successful proposal. The recording and the material of the info day is available here.
Launched in 2021, the CB RES window supports renewable energy projects involving cross-border cooperation, either between EU Member States or between Member States and non-EU countries. Eligible projects cover a wide range of renewable energy technologies, including onshore and offshore wind, solar, sustainable biomass, ocean and geothermal energy, as well as hybrid solutions.
Since its creation, the programme has already awarded over €165 million to 17 innovative projects, contributing to the EU's decarbonisation goals and strengthening the security of energy supply.
