On February 28, 2026, patients, families, and clinicians came together for a day dedicated to one shared mission: moving the needle on NF care. The Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute and Cleveland Clinic Children's NF Program, a member of the Children's Tumor Foundation (CTF) NF Clinic Network, hosted Neurofibromatosis & Schwannomatosis: Hope, Health, and Progress, a patient and family symposium live-streamed via Zoom to communities affected by neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), and all types of schwannomatosis (SWN), including NF2-related schwannomatosis (NF2-SWN).
Made possible with support from the Children's Tumor Foundation, the symposium brought expert voices directly to the people who need them most. Attendees gained practical insights on some of the most pressing questions in NF care, from surgical and therapeutic options to learning challenges, genetic testing, vision and hearing, and the latest research happening right at Cleveland Clinic. Two patient journey segments put a human face on the science, reminding everyone in attendance why this work matters.
Cleveland Clinic is no stranger to NF excellence. CTF has jointly recognized the Cleveland Clinic Neurological Institute and Cleveland Clinic Children's NF Program as both a Comprehensive NF1 Center and a Comprehensive SWN Center - a distinction that reflects the highest standards of NF expertise, care, and education. Under the leadership of Dr. Gary Hsich and Dr. Mina Lobbous, the clinics serve pediatric and adult patients with a deep commitment to NF research and multidisciplinary care.
