"In order to have Bulgarian production, there must be adequate pricing," stated the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Plamen Abrovsky, during a meeting of the parliamentary ad hoc Committee on Budget and Finance. The meeting reviewed proposed amendments to the Consumer Protection Act and the Protection of Competition Act. He emphasized that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food fully supports legislative initiatives aimed at curbing food prices and limiting unfair trading practices. Minister Abrovsky pointed out that the Ministry's main priority is to create a more secure and predictable environment for Bulgarian producers and processors, enabling them to sustainably develop their businesses and increase the presence of Bulgarian food on the market.

According to him, the envisioned changes regarding unfair trading practices will provide greater security, allowing Bulgarian producers and processors to secure their position along the supply chain and boost the market share of domestic production.

Minister Abrovsky also commented on the sector analysis by the Commission for Protection of Competition, which identified the shortage of Bulgarian production as a core issue. "For more Bulgarian food to reach consumers, producers and processors must feel protected and operate under fair market conditions," he stated.

In conclusion, the Minister noted that the Ministry's efforts are focused on creating conditions that make Bulgarian producers and processors more competitive, while providing Bulgarian consumers with wider access to high-quality domestic food.
