Mass of the Holy Spirit will be held Sunday, Aug. 30

Marquette President Kimo Ah Yun invites the campus community to Mass of the Holy Spirit at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, as the university kicks off the academic year with this annual, traditional liturgy. The Mass returns to its traditional Sunday evening time to give all students, faculty and staff the opportunity to come together in community for prayer, reflection and discernment.

Mass of the Holy Spirit is celebrated at every Catholic, Jesuit institution, dating back 450 years to the founding of Jesuit education.

"I have found the Mass of the Holy Spirit an opportunity to ground myself in our mission and focus on what lies ahead in the new academic year," President Ah Yun said. "I hope all members of the Marquette community can attend this Mass and celebrate the promise that awaits our students, faculty and staff members."

Following the Mass, all attendees are invited to a free community picnic to gather in friendship and joy. Details on the community picnic will be shared in August.

"Just as gathering at Mass fills our souls, gathering around the table fills our hearts," said Rev. Jim Pribek, S.J., acting vice president for mission and ministry. "I hope to celebrate with so many in our Marquette community."
