Statement on East-West rail corridor flood impact – network update

The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is managing the impact of significant rainfall across the East West rail corridor, with sections between Ooldea and Watson in remote South Australia closed.

Inspections have identified water over the track and washaways. Closures have been implemented in accordance with our extreme weather policy, prioritising the safety of our people, customers and the integrity of the network.

Crews and equipment are mobilised at key locations, and ARTC is closely monitoring conditions in consultation with specialist weather providers.

ARTC remains in direct communication with customers and will provide further updates as conditions develop.
