4 March 2026, Hamburg - Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Mihai Popșoi, attended the inauguration ceremony of the Honorary Consulate Office of the Republic of Moldova in Hamburg, as part of his working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany.

The consular office will be headed by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Moldova in Hamburg, Andre Pilling, and will help strengthen Moldova's presence in northern Germany, promote economic, trade and cultural cooperation, and facilitate dialogue with Moldovan citizens residing in the region. Its activity will contribute to attracting investment and developing contacts between local authorities, the business community and the Moldovan community, in coordination with the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Germany.

The Deputy Prime Minister underlined that the opening of the Honorary Consulate in Hamburg reflects the authorities' commitment to maintaining an active link with Moldovan citizens abroad and to developing lasting partnerships with Germany's federal states.

"Hamburg is an important economic and logistics hub, and this office will facilitate new opportunities for cooperation between investors, local authorities and the Republic of Moldova, while also supporting the Moldovan diaspora in the region. I thank Mr Andre Pilling for his willingness to contribute to promoting our country's interests and strengthening Moldova-Germany relations," said Minister Mihai Popșoi.

In his remarks, Honorary Consul Andre Pilling highlighted the responsibility that comes with this mandate and his motivation to contribute to developing relations between the Republic of Moldova and northern Germany.

"It is an honour to represent the Republic of Moldova in Hamburg. I want to support initiatives that bring economic and cultural communities closer together and encourage concrete cooperation projects between this region and the Republic of Moldova," said Andre Pilling.

The inauguration ceremony, organised with the involvement of diaspora associations in Hamburg, was attended by representatives of local authorities and the business community, members of the consular corps, and the Moldovan community. On this occasion, all participants were offered mărțișoare-a symbol of our tradition and identity-highlighting the active role of the diaspora in promoting the culture and traditions of the Republic of Moldova.
