Raptor Research Center announces fellowship recipient

The Raptor Research Center generates knowledge and appreciation of birds of prey and their environments, equips students with expertise to conduct exceptional research, and cultivates innovative community leaders to shape raptor research and conservation worldwide. The center's Wingspan Fellowship initiative, started in 2024, aims to support current masters or Ph.D. students in programs other than the MS Raptor Biology Program with funds to conduct research or creative activity projects that relate to, or benefit raptor ecology and conservation.

Awarded funding of up to $1,200 each may be used for research or creative activity needs such as equipment, stipends or conference travel. The 2025-2026 Wingspan Graduate Research and Travel Fellowship awardee is Catherine (Cat) Isaak.

"The Wingspan Fellowship is supporting my spring fieldwork to collect and prepare herbarium specimens that will strengthen my research on disturbance restoration in Idaho's sagebrush-steppe. These specimens will also serve as teaching tools for undergraduate courses in Mammalogy and Animal Physiology and Nutrition. Additionally, the fellowship will fund my participation in a restoration ecology conference, where I will learn new techniques and build professional connections to advance my career in wildlife and ecosystem conservation."
