IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 24, 2026 Chairwoman Barela responds to the Albuquerque Journal on the increase of patient visits at Planned Parenthood: "First, whether it's abortion or transgender services, the most fundamental failure of Planned Parenthood is that they don't provide options so much as they push their views on highly impressionable people. Second, taxpayer dollars shouldn't go to fund these types of services when a significant percentage of New Mexicans are imminently against it. Make no mistake, the reason we are seeing patient visits double over the past six months in New Mexico is because our Democrat leaders have prioritized the funding of Planned Parenthood above almost anything else in our entire state, which is one of the many reasons why we have a growing list of issues in our state. We should be focusing on real healthcare issues rather than throwing enormous amounts of taxpayer money at Planned Parenthood." - Chairwoman Amy Barela ### |
