The European Council strongly condemns Russia's attacks against Ukrainian civil infrastructure which have contaminated the Dniester river, the Republic of Moldova's primary source of fresh water. The European Union stands ready to provide assistance to the Republic of Moldova in mitigating the environmental effects, including through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. In this context, the European Council welcomes the immediate support provided by Member States.
