McNeal, Tasby voted LSUS Homecoming king, queen

SHREVEPORT - Seniors Jamauri McNeal and Aaliyah Tasby were crowned LSUS Homecoming king and queen on Thursday between the men's and women's basketball games.

Eighteen LSUS students were nominated for the honor with the student body vote determining the winner.

McNeal is a community and public health major from Monroe with aspirations of becoming a physical therapist.

He is an active member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and the Black Student Union.

Tasby has proven herself a leader in the computer science department.

The Shreveport native started LSUS's chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers and is vice president of Extraordinary Women of Computer Science.

The aspiring software engineer runs her own eyelash business and aims to inspire others in underrepresented groups to STEM careers.

Tasby was recently featured on the LSUS website for her path to a degree and her activities.
