Singer - On January 4, 2025, shortly after 5:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop D responded to a single-vehicle fatality crash on Louisiana Hwy 109 near Bearhead Road. The crash claimed the life of 42-year-old Jeromy Francis Ambrose of Leesville.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by Ambrose, was traveling south on LA Hwy 109. For reasons still under investigation, the Harley-Davidson failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, traveled off the roadway to the right, and struck a tree.
Ambrose, who was wearing a non-approved DOT helmet at the time of the crash, received fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Standard toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis. This crash is still under investigation.
Sulphur - On January 4, 2025, shortly before 6:00 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D began investigating a two-vehicle fatality crash on U.S. Highway 90 near Choupique Road. The crash claimed the life of 41-year-old Coby Ray Robin of Vinton.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Robin was driving a 1998 Ford F-150 west on U.S. 90. At the same time, a 2023 Ford F-150 was traveling east on U.S. 90. For reasons still under investigation, Robin's F-150 crossed the center line and struck the other F-150 head on.
Robin, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, received fatal injuries and died at the scene. An unrestrained passenger in Robin's vehicle received minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The driver of the eastbound F-150 and its three additional occupants were all properly restrained and sustained minor injuries.
Standard toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
Troopers wish to remind all motorists to make good decisions while in a motor vehicle. Never drive impaired, fatigued, or distracted. Additionally, Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. While not all crashes are survivable, these precautions can dramatically reduce your chances of being severely injured or killed.
