Jobava and Borghino were part of a panel entitled 'Artificial Intelligence and Digital Publishing and Its Impact on the World of Publishing' which was moderated by Rashad. They spoke of the need for AI platforms to be transparent about the works they harvested illegally from the internet, as well as offering recognition and remuneration to the affected rightsholders. On the question of whether copyright should radically change to accommodate this massive theft of works masquerading as 'disruption', they were clear: No, copyright is flexible and resilient enough to encompass AI as long as the AI platforms abide by the accepted, legal limits.
Afterwards, Jobava, Rashad and Borghino met with the Moroccan Minister for Youth, Culture and Communication, congratulating him on Rabat becoming World Book Capital City on 23 April 2026 and encouraging him to promote the creative industries in Morocco and continuing to fight the scourge of piracy. The IPA also met with the leaders of both our Moroccan member, L'Union professionelle des éditeurs du Maroc, and the Arab Publishers Association.
