The meeting stressed the firm commitment of Romania and NATO to increasing regional security and strengthening defence on the Allied Eastern Flank.

During the talks, the officials stressed the need to adapt the deterrence and defence posture in the context of major challenges and threats posed to the Alliance. They also analyzed the priorities for the NATO Summit in Ankara, which will take place in July, this year, and emphasized the strategic importance of the Black Sea for ensuring the stability and security of the Euro-Atlantic area. At the same time, they emphasized the importance of implementing the decisions adopted at the NATO Summit in The Hague, regarding the increase in defence investments, Romania being an important contributor both to strengthening the allied posture on the eastern flank and to providing support for Ukraine. In this context, General Grynkewich thanked our country for its contribution to the PURL mechanism to support Ukraine's defence.
