Attorney General Formella Releases Report on July 6, 2025 Murder of Marisol Fuentes

Concord, NH - Attorney General John M. Formella announces that the New Hampshire Department of Justice is releasing its report following a comprehensive investigation and review of the tragic July 6, 2025, murder of Marisol Fuentes in Berlin, New Hampshire. The report was prepared to confirm the facts and assess the circumstances surrounding the murder and identify issues or concerns with law enforcement or prosecutorial action in relation to the case.

"Marisol Fuentes' life was taken from her in a senseless and tragic act of violence. This report was developed to examine the facts surrounding her murder, the history of the case, and the responses of various agencies, with the goal of learning from this tragedy and making necessary changes," said Attorney General Formella. "We remain committed to continuing our work with our partners across the justice system to strengthen protections for victims and prevent similar tragedies in the future."

The state's newly established Domestic Violence Fatality Review Committee will also use this case as the basis for its first full systemic review. The Committee, established by legislation signed into law by Governor Ayotte earlier this year, conducts multidisciplinary, confidential reviews of domestic violence fatalities to identify gaps in services, systemic challenges, and opportunities for improvement. The Committee examines the complex circumstances surrounding domestic violence deaths and develops recommendations to improve law, policy, and practice statewide.

The release of this report is intended to inform the public and guide future improvements to better protect victims of domestic violence across New Hampshire.
