On May 19, 2026, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Secretary of State of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Diaspora of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea Maricruz Evuna Andeme.

Miao Deyu stated that in recent years, under the stewardship of the two heads of state, the China-Equatorial Guinea comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership has been operating at a high level. The friendly ties between the two sides have gained renewed vitality and practical cooperation has been steadily advanced. China is ready to work with Equatorial Guinea to implement the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state and the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative, so as to achieve greater progress in bilateral relations and contribute to the joint efforts of building a community with a shared future for humanity.

Maricruz Evuna Andeme stated that China, as a responsible major country in the world, has always treated African countries as equals and sincerely cared for and supported Africa's development. The zero-tariff initiative will effectively expand Africa-China trade and benefit the African people. Equatorial Guinea will always adhere to the one-China principle and is ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China under frameworks such as the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) to enhance people-to-people connectivity, promote common development and uphold international fairness and justice.
