BISMARCK, N.D. - Bismarck's 4th of July celebration made a powerful debut at its new home, drawing an estimated 8,000 people to the MDU Resources Community Bowl and surrounding areas for the reimagined event, Bismarck's Red, White & Boom!
The community's response was nothing short of extraordinary, with families, friends, and neighbors gathering in force to celebrate Independence Day in a new setting that delivered big on energy, activities, and patriotic pride.
"On behalf of the City of Bismarck, I would like to thank all the community partners and sponsors who helped make this event memorable. And an even bigger thank you to the thousands of people that came out to celebrate the 4th of July in the Capital City," City of Bismarck Administrator Jason Tomanek said. "It was great to see so many smiling faces and people enjoying the music. The crowd really embraced the MDU Resources Community Bowl, and it did not disappoint. The fireworks show was possibly the best Bismarck has seen in years, many thanks to Jim Keller with J&J Fireworks."
A Celebration to Remember
The event featured interactive inflatables for all ages, live music, and a jaw-dropping fireworks finale from J&J Fireworks.
Live music set the tone early, with Ben Suchy delivering a standout performance joined by his father, Chuck Suchy, for a few unforgettable songs. The two filled in on short notice for Savanah Benz, who was unable to perform. The evening continued with the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra's 31st annual Independence Day concert, which captivated the crowd and seamlessly led into the grand fireworks show over the Missouri River.
Families enjoyed dessert trucks, games, and more throughout the evening. Kids and adults alike engaged in giant yard games, creative stations like the Bubble Zone, and classic summertime treats from beloved local vendors.

A New Tradition Begins
While this year's move from the Capitol Grounds was necessitated by construction, the overwhelming success of Red, White & Boom at the MDU Resources Community Bowl signals a promising future.
"We were so amazed by the incredible support from the community for this storied event, and are already working hard to collect as much feedback as possible to make this event even better for next year," Funatix Events General Manager Will Satler said.
The Red, White & Boom! planning committee is asking for feedback from the community on this year's event. The post-event survey can be found at bit.ly/bis4july and will be available till July 21.
