The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities held the Town Hall, "The Heart of Change: Elevating HSIs Through Advocacy, Justice, and Courageous Leadership," on Nov. 3, 2025.
The panel discussion was moderated by Lena Rodriguez, Ph.D., HACU's executive vice president for policy and government relations. The Town Hall featured the following speakers: Francisca Fajana, J.D., director of Racial Justice Strategy, Latino Justice; Aaron Ford, Ph.D., J.D., attorney general for the State of Nevada; Stephanie Rodriguez., cabinet secretary, New Mexico Higher Education Department; and Francisco Pardo, J.D., director of legal resources, National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA).
Discussions focused on the filing of HACU's Motion to Intervene in Tennessee and Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) v. U.S. Department of Education, as well as status updates. Speakers also shared how they are moving the agenda forward on Capitol Hill, and state leaders discussed how they are working to protect HSIs to uplift their communities, along with insights on how attendees can continue the work on their own campuses.
The HACU Town Hall was part of HACU's 39th Annual Conference, "Championing Hispanic Higher Education Success: Forging Transformational Leaders to Uplift Democracy and Prosperity," held Nov. 1-3, 2025, in Aurora, Colorado.
