LONDON - [December 15, 2025] - Ingram Publisher Services UK ("IPS UK"), an Ingram Content Group UK Ltd. brand, announces a new distribution partnership with Archetype Publications Ltd, the leading specialist publisher in art conservation and heritage studies. Distribution services commenced on 1 October 2025, marking a new chapter for Archetype's publishing programme.
"Archetype is a brilliant addition to the IPS UK portfolio, bridging the academic and art publishing worlds," said Bunmi Western, Director of IPS UK. "Their titles are highly desirable and marketable, and we're proud to work with James and Chris to broaden their availability."
Archetype was recently acquired by publishing veterans James Powell and Chris Humphrey, who purchased the company from founder James Black. Since establishing the press in 1987, Black has built Archetype into a respected authority in art conservation, technical art history, and museum studies, with over 200 titles in print and collaborations with institutions such as The National Gallery, the British Museum, and the Victoria & Albert Museum. Black will continue to contribute in a commissioning role.
"We're thrilled to take the reins at Archetype and build on the company's remarkable legacy," said James Powell. "With over 50 years of combined senior publishing experience, Chris and I are committed to ensuring Archetype's continued success. Partnering with IPS UK is a crucial step in securing a sustainable future for the company."
Chris Humphrey added: "Archetype serves a well-established community with essential volumes in art conservation and restoration. This new distribution partnership provides a strong foundation for expanding both the content and reach of our list, especially as we embrace new formats and opportunities."
"We're excited to be distributing Archetype's exceptional list and helping it reach new audiences," Bunmi Western remarked. "IPS UK is uniquely positioned to leverage Ingram Content Group's infrastructure to support publishers with everything from stock management to marketing. We look forward to working with Archetype Publications in the years ahead."
