The Peoria County Board is appointing Branden Martin to serve as Peoria County Treasurer, starting on July 14.
Martin is succeeding Nicole Bjerke. She is retiring this summer after serving more than 8 years as Peoria County Treasurer, and more than 27 years total working in the Treasurer's Office. Bjerke's current four-year term expires in 2026.
Martin is a lifelong Central Illinois resident, and an entrepreneur with more than 28 years of experience in launching and managing businesses in a variety of industries.
Martin currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Peoria Area Association of Realtors (PAAR) and its Governmental Affairs Committee. He also serves on the boards of the Downtown Development Corporation (DDC) and the Peoria Historical Society. Martin is also the vice-chair of the City of Peoria's Planning and Zoning Commission.
The Peoria County Treasurer's Office is responsible for the receipt, management, investment, and disbursement of public funds. The Office also bills and collects real estate taxes throughout the County.
