SALEM -- Plan ahead! Oregon DMV is alerting customers that all self-service options will be offline due to a system upgrade from July 3 through July 5. This includes DMV2U and DMV Express Kiosks. All DMV offices will be closed on July 3 for the Fourth of July holiday.
"Our computer system requires regular upgrades to maintain and improve our service to customers," Oregon DMV Administrator Amy Joyce said. "We understand this will be an inconvenience, which is why we're letting folks know early so they can plan on completing necessary transactions ahead of the transition weekend."
DMV's Oregon License Issuance and Vehicle Registration (OLIVR) system went live in January 2019, replacing a 50-year-old computer system. The technology made DMV much more efficient and introduced DMV2U, offering several online self-service options for customers and business partners.
Today, DMV2U offers more than 30 online transactions, saving customers a trip to a DMV office and freeing up appointment times for those who must complete their service inside an office. DMV Express Kiosks were introduced in 2025, bringing 10 machines to Fred Meyer stores from Portland to Medford and in Bend. The kiosks allow you to renew, replace and print your vehicle registration card and stickers, as well as print a copy of your vehicle registration. Kiosks are available seven days a week during the stores' operating hours.
The OLIVR upgrade will help keep DMV's software current, ensuring we can integrate with partner systems and making it easier to adopt future updates as they become available, better serving our customers.
