NextNav Confirms Tolling Operations Can Coexist with 5G in the Lower 900 MHz Band

On January 15, 2026, NextNav filed a technical response to the recent submissions by Neology and IBTTA/E-ZPass and reaffirmed the conclusions of NextNav's August 2025 Tolling Coexistence Study, which demonstrated that licensed tolling systems can coexist with 5G-based positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) operations in the Lower 900 MHz band.

NextNav's proposal would impose only minimal costs on tolling operators, limited to potential retuning of a subset of toll readers. Importantly, optimization of the band would not require any retuning or replacement of consumer toll transponders. To the extent that retuning of certain toll readers may be necessary, NextNav has committed to reasonable accommodations, including financial and technical support to facilitate a smooth transition to an optimized Lower 900 MHz band plan.

We remain confident in our coexistence findings and are committed to supporting the Commission's fact-based, engineering-driven process."
